Create a New Page (Advanced)

In addition to the Basic Settings, there are a number of optional Advanced Settings that you can use when creating a new page.

All of these settings are optional!

Copy Page

1.   Click the Add button on the Control Panel.  Configure the Basic Settings as you learned in the previous tutorial Create a Page (Basic).

2.   (Optional Step) If you want your new Page to have the same modules on it as another page in your website you can specify which page to Copy Modules From.  Select the page from the dropdown list.

3.   (Optional Step) Check Copy Content if you want the Modules on your new Page to "mirror" the modules on the page you copied from.

This means that any change to the module content on either the copied page or your new page will be reflected in both!

Start Date and End Date

4.   (Optional Step) Enter a Start Date and/or End Date for when the Page should be visible.  Visitors to your website will not see this page or its Menu item until that future date.  If an End Date is specified the page will stop being visible to website visitors on that date.  Both fields are normally blank (so the page is always visible).

Link Type

5.   (Optional Step) The default Link Type for a Page is None, pages are not normally links.  But you can select a different link type so that your Menu item behaves differently.  We'll look briefly at each type below.  You can select only one.

Specify the URL Link Type.  The Settings page will update and provide you with a field to type in the URL.  The Menu item that is created by these page settings will open the URL that you type in this field (instead of a page with with modules).

Specify the Page Link Type.  The Settings page will update and provide you with a dropdown list of the pages on your website.  The Menu item that is created by these page settings will open this page instead of a new one.  This makes it possible for you to have more than one menu item that opens the same page.

Specify the File Link Type.  The Settings page will update and provide you with dropdown lists to specify the folder and filename on your website.  The Menu item that is created by these page settings will open this file instead of a traditional page.  This makes it possible for you to have a menu item that opens a document or an image.

6.   When you have finished with these steps, scroll to the bottom of the page and click Update to save your changes!
